Can Yoga help us with learning a new language?

Practicing yoga poses and learning a new language can both benefit from a yogin attitude. Emanuela reminds us that learning a language and/or practicing Yoga yield positive effects on your emotional and physical well-being

The programs I am currently offering are Italian language acquisition and wellness activities such as Yoga. In the past few years I became aware that Yoga shares a lot of similarities with learning a new language. Yoga helps you to relax, clear your mind, focus and be open to new experiences. These are exactly the skills you need to learn a new language.

Every day we are so overloaded with information and stimulation that just hearing a song, a voice or a sentence can send us off into a panic or stressed emotional state. Following the yogic teachings helps us to be more stable and increases our power of concentration. Learning a language is a practice just like Yoga, it necessitates constant practice. The process of learning makes your mind sharper, but it is a long journey and requires a great deal of effort.

Let me remind you, that learning a language and/or practicing Yoga yield positive effects on your emotional and physical well-being. Keeping your brain active and your body toned are said to guard against sicknesses such as dementia and Alzheimer.

“Yoga increases body awareness, the body/mind connection.
We live in such a cerebral world, yoga can slow you down and get you in touch with your body’s needs.”
