How yoga changed and improved my life
Yoga is a personal discipline. It is neither a sport nor a competition, but rather a union of mind, body and spirit. Yoga serves to connect this state of union through the passage of the vital energy (PRANA) into the energetic centers (CHAKRAS) that regulate our emotions with the help of the breathing process (PRANAYAMA) along the postures (ASANA).
The central focus of yoga lies in the mind. In fact, only when the mind slows down you can have a clearer and deeper perception of yourself.
The first amazing thing I learned from yoga was the ability to focus on the present, without paying attention to the past or the future. Just live in the moment! This concept of “mindfulness” helped me cultivate my inner awareness. Yoga taught me that, through breathing, I am able to navigate different levels of consciousness. Following this internal path, I learned to become deeply mindful, which allowed me to take better care of my body and mind, while achieving a healthier living style. Constant practice guided me to have more balance, confidence and concentration, in approaching life’s events and my career. However, more than anything, yoga healed my anxiety in a dark period of my life giving me the strength to rise up. It required good and bad times to reach my inner peace, but here I am! Patience and steadiness in the practice paid back!
Of course, at first, yoga was a challenge. Although, soon I realized that the key to everything is the realization that you can change your mind, to be able to process your thoughts and emotions with a healthy positive attitude of gratitude, by always remembering that life is precious.
“You are the master of your own thought….! Your mind will obey only you!”
I’m very thankful I discovered yoga as way of helping others achieve serenity, because in the end we all are “lights” trying to shine through hard times, like “warriors” fighting to define our mission on earth.
“The light in me honors the light in you ”
